Political socialization and youth: The case of the civil trajectories of the university students of the region of Valparaíso

Abstract

The present article proposes to analyze the processes of political socialization that the university youth of Valparaiso experience across his civil trajectories. The problem of research assumes that the university students constitute the subjects in which it is possible to describe and analyze the structural and subjective transformations that there crosses the society Chilean. In the study there applied 832 questionnaires youth of both sexes students of universities traditional and private of the region of Valparaiso. The results appear across five dimensions: juvenile conditions, political socialization, political identification, political participation and legitimization of the political thing. The work concludes with an analysis of the relation that the university students establish with the political participation of type conventional and not conventional.
