Abstract

The processes of intervention and clinical reasoning require a constant renewal and a critical look at the procedures that are performed. Evidence-based practice (EBP) emerges as a method that seeks to integrate the emerging knowledge of scientific evidence, with the knowledge that the professional has, and the needs of the subject in a specific context, in order to deliver attention more attentive and quality to the person, seeking to obtain the best results for the user, through the most appropriate method for their specific situation (Evidence-Based Medicine Working Group, 1992). In the practice of Occupational Therapy, several debates have arisen in relation to the use of EBP (known as Occupational Therapy Based on Evidence -OTBE-), since there is no established definition or a proper rootedness of the discipline of this method in their usual practice (Cohn, Coster, & Kramer, 2014), frequently putting into tension or doubting the real validity, effectiveness and replicability of the Occupational Therapy intervention in the different action scenarios...
