The article analyses the role of voluntary work in religious organizations, specifically, in the Catholic Church, as well as the issues involved in it. From here emerges the question: what is the role of voluntary work in religious entities and which conflicts of interest emerge in the solidarity action of volunteers? The text focuses on the study of three kinds of work in religious entities: religious, voluntary and permanent employment status. The methodology is bibliographic and documentary, of an explanatory, qualitative and theoretical nature. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that it is necessary to identify the voluntary work in the activities performed in the institution and to overcome the ambiguities of function, rules and the isolation of the volunteer
