Abstract

This article presents the results of a research carried out in Honduras, whose objective was to analyze the development of teaching practice at the level of basic education, in the context of rurality and health crisis due to COVID-19, from the perspective of teachers. The work started from the hermeneutic-interpretive paradigm, using a phenomenological design and the qualitative technique of in-depth interviews. According to the findings, the teaching process was developed from different strategies, such as home visits, distribution of printed materials, telephone calls, among others. It was found that teachers faced a series of adversities, particularly for the delivery of educational material, due to geographical conditions and the lack of digital coverage in rural areas. Although teachers had a basic level of mastery of ICT for virtual teaching, they adapted their work through creativity and innovation. They appealed to the situated learning of their students, resorted to elements of the environment and attracted the support of the communities, all in order to give continuity to the educational processes.
